Started importing knowledge notes from TheBrain
This was my primary note taker for a good 2-3 years, so I have quite a few notes.
Started importing travel notes from Notion
I used this in passing. I loved how beautiful and powerful it was. However, I didn’t like the lack of privacy and also how rigid Notion is. It’s turns notetaking into a bit of a chore. Great for some people and horrible for others.
Started using Obsidian Projects, which is similar to the unmaintained Obsidian Notion-Like Tables.
I’m using it to manage the content that I ultimately end up posting here.
I previously was using the Kanban plugin and since I had to manually move the posts it wasn’t always up-to-date.
Obsidian Projects also has a Kanban view which is nice. Unfortunately there’s no way to drag and drop posts… yet
Finished Imported Bookmarks and added the bookmark type
I was using both FireFox and a self-hosted bookmark manager. I found that I was using FireFox as sort of an inbox manager and then my bookmark manager as a bookmark graveyard.
There are pros and cons to using Obsidian as a bookmark manager.
Pros: There is less overhead as I don’t need to maintain multiple systems and I don’t lose many features since I can still tag bookmarks and with dataview they are still going to be organized (arguably even better than before. I also have the ability to directly reference bookmarks when I am noting something.
Cons: I create some minor inefficiency inside Obsidian by needing to maintan a partiuclar type of note and I also am less integrated with my webbrowser. Seeing as I used Logseq and TheBrain as an customizable Digital Asset Manager the cons mean very little to me.
