[Shopping 0003] Black Friday hustle, Deals are a fudge factor
Retailers be wolves in sheep's clothing
Don't get me wrong, there are some really good deals. I snagged that 55" Amazon Fire TV for $100 bucks. However, there are many wolves in sheep's clothing with the discount being a mere fudge factor to not be an outright lie, but hardly the discount that is expected for the Holiday season. If you have any other examples feel free to share in the comments. The two that come to mind are GoPro and ProtonMail. I ended up buying both not because of the paltry discount, but because I was planning to get them anyway and was waiting to see if there were going to be any good deals. GoPro's Black Friday Hero 11 deal is roughly a 3% decrease from $399 to $389. ProtonMail has roughly a 10% discount for Black Friday from the existing discount.
Proton Mail
Another interesting tidbit for GoPro is it doesn't matter if you have an existing subscriber or a new one, they've adjusted the MSRP so you end up paying the same.
Unless it's either a loss leader or a floundering item, it seems like the trick is to wait for the holidays to end and scoop up excess inventory. It really does pay to do your research.
